He is a very handsome white and brown tabby cat, full of love and ready to be your new housemate. Buffy is a very big kitty, almost 30 pounds! His elderly owner can no longer take care of him, so if we can't find a home soon he will be put down. We don't want that to happen!.

Kuma
December 2009
Just wanted to give you an update on Kuma:
We have been working on getting him use to people coming over and he has shown a lot of progress in a short amount of time. We have found that meeting people outside and then letting them come in before him works really well. He still barks a little, but he settles down with some treats, and after a while he is comfortable with their presence. He is extremely smart (which is not always a good thing!!) and learns quickly. I am working with him on "touch" (putting his nose to my hand that is at my side), "stay", and "heal". He is getting better with the first two but "heal" is one he does not want to listen to. We will start obedience class in January and I am setting up a meeting with another female lab. He did well with the first one, but we will see how this one goes. I am working on pictures, so hopefully I will get you those in the next couple of days. He is only 80 lbs, so I am thinking he will put on another 20lbs. I was told he was 90-100 lbs, but at the vet he weighed in at 79lbs. He still has a lot of extra neck skin to grow into :) I think he might he slightly allergic to the turkey in his Innova so I am switching him to Orijen Red Meat, it is one of the best pet foods I have seen or read about. We'll see how that goes.
I'll continue to keep you posted. You were right when you said I would never want another breed of dog; both my boyfriend and I are sold on Akitas!
All my best,
Erin
